Third, Fourth, & Fifth Grades
The upper grades' curriculum is strong on consolidating academic skills and enhancing personal organization and study skills in preparation for middle school. Students love the change to literature-based reading and writing programs where skill work is derived from award-winning children's literature. Upper-grade students take a more responsible role in school life including younger student mentor programs, more sophisticated field trips and Safety Patrol responsibilities. In addition to classroom teachers, specialists teach Technology, Science Lab, Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Library Skills, and Art. Brentwood students go on to be successful in all middle school in the county and have a high rate of acceptance to the "by invitation" public magnet programs.
