The Curriculum

Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, form the core of our curriculum. Specialists in Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer Science, Spanish and Library Skills complete the learning experience.

GRADES 3-5. The upper grades' curriculum is strong on consolidating academic skills and enhancing personal organization and study skills in preparation for middle school. Students love the change to literature-based reading and writing programs where skill work is derived from award winning children's literature. Upper grade students take a more responsible role in school life including younger student mentor programs, more sophisticated field trips and Safety Patrol responsibilities. In addition to the two classroom teachers, specialists teach Computer, Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Library Skills and Art.

Brentwood students have a high rate of acceptance to the best private middle schools, as well as the "by invitation" public magnet programs.
